Teams are provided identical sets of materials and tools with which to build an apple launcher in a fixed amount of time. When building-time expires, teams launch their apple to see who can launch the farthest. Teams are ranked farthest to shortest.

• Teams have 30 minutes to build their apple launcher.
• A person cannot provide the force to launch the apple; it must come from the materials provided.
• Teams first take turns launching their apple.
• If a team prefers, they can choose to launch their apple a second time for better distance.
• After all teams have launched, teams are ranked by the farthest distance.

Organize the materials into kits for each of the teams consisting of:

- 1 Length of threaded rod
- 1 Set of nuts & washers
- 2x 2x4x8
- 2 Solo Cups
- 2' Length of Rope
- 1 Gallon Jug of Water
- 1 Cordless Drill w/ Bit
- 1 Hand Saw
- 1 Box of Screws
- 1 Apple
